December Roundup

December Roundup

Hello lovelies!

I hope this finds you well and enjoying a festive kick-off to the holiday season! I’ve decided, at least for now, to do a monthly roundup instead of a weekly or bi-weekly roundup. This may change again in the future, so stay tuned, but I want to make sure it’s working/useful for you! I’d love for you to send me an email and let me know what you think of these roundups. You can find me at

Healthier Eating: Where to Start. It’s all about being a little better than yesterday. Strive for progress!

As winter arrives, it’s really important to think about hydration. Check out What to Drink (and Avoid) for Optimal Hydration over on MindBodyGreen.

Since we all throw away more than we really wish to, here’s a great guide for Tips to Use Less Plastic. Most plastic ends up in landfills, only about 7% is recycled, which is horrifying when you think about how many plastic things are in your home every day.

Looking for holiday gifts? Check out these awesome guides for Gifts that Give Back (here and here.) You’ll find gifts for kids (The Doll Kind has my heart for sure! Love teaching kids to spread kindness!) for her (Bloom & Give has some beautiful scarves and proceeds go to educating girls around the world) for him (Bombas donates a pair of socks to a homeless shelter for every pair purchased) and gifts for the hostess (Starling candles help provide solar energy around the world.) Feels good to give gifts that also help others in need!

I’m all about the holiday movies this time of year, but I’d also really encourage you to check out a few documentaries when you have some downtime!

GMO OMG is a really important documentary to watch. Head to their site for more information and catch it on Netflix.

Tapped is all about the toxicity of plastic water bottles. I can’t stress enough getting yourself a stainless steel water bottle and refilling with filtered water on your own. Not only will it save plastic from taking up space in landfills, but it will also be better for your health as the toxins in the bottles will leach into the water. I LOVE my Hydroflask water bottle and Kleen Canteen is another great option.

If you are a woman or are raising daughters, you really should listen to the Let it Out Podcast with Anea Bogue of REALGirl, an organization that works to empower women and give girls the tools to navigate life as a woman. It’s really amazing and her work is truly inspiring.

For my foodies, check out Party in My Plants interview with Lauren Kretzer (episode 3) to learn how to be more comfortable and creative in your own kitchen!

Interested in changing up your morning smoothie but need a little inspiration? Check out these from the Academy of Culinary Nutrition!

Love smoothies, but not in the winter? Check out this list of Elixirs from Meghan Telpner. They are warm and filled with lots of vital nutrients! Yum!

Make your own Chai Latte and skip the Starbucks line. Save money and time and make it in the comfort of your pajamas!

Need a quick treat for your holiday parties? These Almond Date Truffles are SO easy and SO delicious. You’ll love them and so will your guests!

In this month of festivities, lights, and love, I hope you know how wonderful you are. How much YOU make a difference. You’re incredible just the way you are. Keep shining your gorgeous light into the world.

Stay tuned for our next roundup after the New Year!
